Kaal Sarp Dosh - Am I doomed if it is in my horoscope?
Kaal Sarp Dosh or Yog is a Myth but is given a status of unquestionable reality. Let's understand why we shouldn't be worried
Am I doomed if I have Kaal Sarp Dosh in my horoscope?
No. Not at all. Kaal Sarp Dosh (In Hindi- काल सर्प दोष) is non-existent and a myth. Simply stated, we should not believe in it. There is no evidence that such combinations termed as Kaal Sarp Dosha harms us in any manner.
Not mentioned in ancient classics
There is no mention of Kaal Sarp Dosh or Yog in any of the classics. Even the Brihat Parasara Hora Sastra by Maharshi Parasara has no mention of it. We are not sure since when, people started getting worried about the Kaal Sarpa Yog. However, it does finds mention in the books by great Shri B V Raman, a respected Astrologer of the 20th Century.
What is Kaal Sarp Dosh ?
In a horoscope, when all the planets are hemmed between Rahu and Ketu, it is termed as a Kaal Sarp Yog. Rahu and Ketu moves in opposite direction of planets. The proponents of this Yog has an interesting explanation. They say that when backward moving Rahu approaches the planets, it consumes them. Alternatively, if Ketu approaches the planets and Rahu moves away, it is said to form a Kaal Amrit Yog.
But, this may not be the correct analysis. Some people say the opposite i.e. the latter case as Kaal Sarp Yog and former as Kaal Amrit Yog. Some Astrologers say that both Kaal Sarp Yog and Kaal Amrit Yog are one and the same thing.
Whatever be it, let's understand the concept from an example:
Here, starting from Rahu, we find that all planets are hemmed between Rahu and Ketu. Some Astrologers include Lagnam (Ascendant) also in calculating this yoga. But many disagree. There is much disagreement on this concept because there is no reference frame. People are giving interpretations as they like.
How does Kaal Sarp Dosh or Yog affect us?
It doesn't affect us. Plain and simple. We should safely ignore it.
The internet is full of websites and Astrologer's scaring us about the ill effects of Kaal Sarp Dosh. They say that the person born in this Yog will be full of misfortune. They say that Kaal Sarp Dosh and marriage happiness does not go hand-in-hand. That the person will suffer physically, materially, financially, emotionally and what not. In short, her or his life will be like a hell and in case remedies are not done, the person is doomed for ever. Astrologers suggest wearing gemstones and doing costly pujas as remedies.
Several people have spent a fortune in treatment of this non-existent disease. But the concept marches on scaring everyone whom it touches. Similar such concept is the Manglik Dosha which we discussed in an earlier article.
Kaal Sarp Dosh doesn't appear logical
Planets are not stationery. For instance, Moon is in a sign for approximately two-and-a-half days. Assuming Moon is with Ketu on the exact longitude. In maximum 18 days, Moon will move out of the Rahu-Ketu axis. Some clever Astrologers even suggested the concept of 'Partial Kaal Sarp Dosh'. They define it as eight planets hemmed between Rahu and Ketu. Kaal Sarp theory is without any basis and we should not believe this.
Moreover, millions of people around the World would be born in these 18 days. Are we saying that all these people are doomed for life and have to spent the life time in poverty? This is far from truth. In fact, there are billionaires born with this combinations. On a material front, these people did very well in life. Renowned Industrialist Mr Dhirubhai Ambani is said to have this Yog.
What should I do if I have Kaal Sarp Dosh ?
Enjoy your life and celebrate. Who knows, may be you turn to be another Ambani someday 😀
When the concept itself appears to be a figment of imagination, why worry about it?
And if anxiety is taking the better of you, listen to the powerful Shanti Mantra and stay happy & blessed:-
The explanation you gave with evidence is very beneficial because due to the greed of expensive worship method, most of the astrologers have been showing the terrible face of Kaal Sarp Yog. Thanks a lot sir, regards Ashwani
